RINER was selected as the Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Materials Testing (CMT) firm for this 656,000 SF warehouse facility. When complete, the facility is intended to serve as a distribution center, office and customer pickup center for Conn’s Texas operations.
RINER’s geotechnical field investigation, included over 550 LF of soil borings. RINER’s geotechnical report provided engineering recommendations for preparation of the building pad, drilled pier foundations, pavement subgrade stabilization, and paving area concrete. A follow up investigation was performed to address comments provided by Harris County Flood Control District which included an additional 100 LF of soil borings. The follow up investigation included dispersion and triaxial compression testing soil to evaluate slopes in the detention basin and drainage channels.
RINER’s CMT inspection scope for the building includes monitoring of over 90,000 CY of building pad earthwork, drilled piers, reinforcing steel, slab on grade and tilt wall panel concrete, floor flatness / floor levelness measurement, and structural steel inspections including ultrasonic testing of welds. The CMT inspection scope for the paving included monitoring of 785,000 square feet of heavy duty paving with chemically stabilized subgrade.
