DFW Airport Southgate Plaza is a 32-acre mixed-use “aerotropolis” development that is intended for hospitality, retail, office, and restaurant uses. RINER provided geotechnical engineering services for the consolidated headquarters building and a six story, 137-room Hyatt Place hotel. The consolidated headquarters building consists of a three-story, 154,000 square-foot office building. Drilled piers bearing in shale were recommended for proposed buildings. RINER’s responsibilities also included review of the construction plans, and QC testing during the construction.

DFW Airport has located its administration and other business offices to the new headquarters building at Southgate Plaza. The three-story, 154,000 square-foot building accommodates up to 525 employees and is at the south end of the Airport adjacent to International Parkway near the Rental Car Center.

In addition to the headquarters building and the Hyatt Place Hotel, there is a restaurant, a 6,000 square-foot United States Postal Service facility, plans for an emergency freestanding facility and other retail, office, and restaurant pad sites. Additionally, bus transit connectivity to both the terminals and regional rail has been integrated into Southgate Plaza Development, bringing additional future demand to the development.
