From over 20 potential candidates, Riner Engineering (RINER) is proud to have been selected as the preferred geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing firm under Lone Star College’s 2015 Go Bond program for improvements at the Lone Star College CyFair campus. Phase 1A of the Bond program involves the construction of an approximately 50,000 SF total area, three‐story Instructional building, and a 25,000 SF total area, two‐story Student Life Center building with parking and drive areas.
RINER performed the geotechnical investigation which included 6 soil borings, totaling 200 feet, to delineate subsurface conditions across the site. All drilling and logging was performed by RINER personnel. The RINER Geotechnical Engineering report provided recommendations for building pad earthwork, drilled piers, retaining structures, slab on grade and pavement construction. RINER provided further recommendations for shallow strip and spread footings in response to site conditions when isolated areas of sandy soil were encountered by the drilling subcontractor that would not support underreamed piers.
The CMT inspection scope for the project included monitoring of building pad, paving and utility earthwork, spread footings, conventional reinforcing steel, concrete, structural steel inspections, masonry and asphalt.
