The transportation improvements of FM 897 is approximately 6.5 miles long with a bridge spanning roughly 6,900 feet along the future Bois D’ Arc Creek Reservoir.
This project included general soil and rock conditions along the proposed bridge span areas along FM 897. Analysis and recommendations included foundation recommendations, bridge approach embankments, slope stability analysis and embankment settlement analysis for the bridge crossing. The other component of the project included pavement design for a new roadway for FM 897 beginning at US highway 82 and extending north to FM 2290/FM 1396. Flexible pavement recommendations were provided for various alternate base types and thicknesses.
