Spring Valley Medical Plaza
Houston, Texas

RINER provided Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Materials Testing services for this seven-story, 170,000‐ SF medical office building. The building design consisted of post tension reinforced concrete decks with cast‐in‐place columns over a spread and strip footing foundation. The building layout includes one subterranean and two above ground parking levels.

RINER performed the geotechnical investigation which included 4 soil borings, totaling 280 feet, to delineate subsurface conditions across the site. All drilling and logging were performed by RINER personnel. RINER’s Geotechnical Engineering report provided recommendations for construction excavations, building pad earthwork, deep and shallow foundations, retaining structures, slab on grade and pavement construction. During construction, RINER provided further engineering recommendations to address groundwater conditions affecting the foundation in the basement area.

RINER’s  earthwork testing and inspection scope during construction included building pad, retaining wall, utility and pavement subgrade soils. RINER’s other testing and inspection items included cast in place concrete, conventional and post‐tension concrete reinforcing, structural masonry mortar and grout, and structural steel inspections.
