RINER was contracted to provide the geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing for the Civil Sitework phase of this retail shopping center project. The project is planned to include a 110KSF Kroger grocery store building, five outbuildings totaling 60KSF, a fuel station and site paving.
RINER performed the geotechnical field investigation, including all drilling and logging. Drilling and logging totaled 485 VLF and RINER’s laboratory testing included sieve analysis with hydrometer testing, Atterberg Limits, California Bearing Ratio, one dimensional consolidation, and one dimensional swell testing. RINER’s Geotechnical Engineering reports provided recommendations for construction excavations, groundwater controls, building pad, paving and utility earthwork, foundation systems and rigid and flexible pavement construction. In accordance with Kroger corporate building specifications, RINER also performed soil pH and resistivity testing and collected soil samples for laboratory analysis to determine the presence of organic contaminants.
During construction, RINER’s testing and inspection scope has included 16,000 CY of building pad earthwork, 11,000 LF of utility trench backfill and subgrade and concrete testing for over 630KSF of light to heavy duty paving. RINER’s testing and inspection scope was expanded to include foundations, slabs, masonry and structural steel for the outbuildings.
